How It Works

We calculate the gap between your standing reach and the rim, then add 6 inches (to clear the ball over the rim).

Worked Examples

Standing Reach 8'0", Rim 10'0"

Rim Height:120 inches= Target
Standing Reach:96 inches= Start
Gap:120 - 96= 24 inches
Plus Ball Clearance:24 + 6= 30 inches vert needed

Tips & Best Practices

  • A standard rim is 10 feet (120 inches) high.
  • You typically need to clear the rim by at least 6 inches to dunk cleanly.
  • Improving core strength and plyometrics are key to increasing vertical.
