10K Pace Calculator
Calculate 10K pace, speed, and kilometer splits from a finish time or target pace.
A 10K is 10 kilometers, or 6.214 miles. Pace is easier to see per kilometer than per mile because the kilometer markers match the race distance exactly.

How to use this calculator
- Start from a finish time. The sample is 55:00. Add an hour only if you expect to be over 59 minutes.
- To work from pace, change the mode, enter the pace, and select the unit you train in.
- Scroll the split table for kilometers 1 through 10. At an even 55:00, every split is 5:30 and the halfway mark is 27:30.
How the calculation works
Minutes per kilometer = finish minutes ÷ 10. A 55:00 10K is 5:30/km with no remainder. The mile equivalent is 5.5 × 1.609344 = 8.851 minutes, or 8:51/mile.
Speed is 60 ÷ 5.5 = 10.91 km/h, about 6.78 mph.
A 10K is two 5Ks only on the course map. The second half is rarely identical to the first if you start at 5K effort. This calculator still prints even splits so you can see the target before you decide where to bank time.
Common 10K targets
Forty minutes is 4:00/km (6:26/mile). Fifty minutes is 5:00/km (8:03/mile). Sixty minutes is 6:00/km (9:39/mile). Seventy minutes is 7:00/km (11:16/mile).
If you know a recent 5K, do not assume the 10K is exactly double. Doubling a 25:00 5K gives 50:00, but the sustainable 10K pace is usually a little slower. The race time predictor applies that adjustment; this page tells you the pace once you have chosen the 10K time.

Frequently Asked Questions
What pace is a 50 minute 10K?
5:00 per kilometer, or 8:03 per mile. Halfway is 25:00.
What pace is a 60 minute 10K?
6:00 per kilometer, or 9:39 per mile. That is 10 km/h.
How many miles is a 10K?
6.214 miles. A pace written per mile has to be multiplied by 6.214, not by 6, or the finish time will be short by about a minute at 6:00/km effort.

How Much Faster to Cut 5 Minutes Off a 10K
Five minutes off a 10K is 30 seconds per kilometer, or about 48 seconds per mile. Worked examples from 60:00, 55:00, and 50:00.
How Long Does a 10K Take?
