Password Strength Checker

Check how strong your password is and estimate crack time

Weak, reused, and stolen passwords are involved in a large share of account breaches. This tool analyzes your password's complexity and estimates how long it would take a hacker to crack it using brute force.

The entropy estimate assumes a random password and a brute-force attacker; real attacks use dictionaries and leaked-password lists, so a long passphrase of common words or a reused password is much weaker than its character-count entropy suggests. The crack-time figures assume 10 billion guesses per second (a fast GPU rig) and are an illustration, not a guarantee. Analysis runs in your browser; the password is not sent anywhere.

How It Works

We calculate "Entropy" based on length and character variety (uppercase, lowercase, numbers, symbols). Higher entropy means exponentially harder to crack.

Tips & Best Practices

  • •Length beats complexity. A 15-char phrase is often stronger than an 8-char complex code.
  • •Don't use common words or personal info.
  • •Use a Password Manager to generate unique passwords for every site.
