How It Works

We multiply your starting value by conversion factors (fractions equals to 1) until the units cancel out to reach the target unit.

Worked Examples

Convert 100 km/h to m/s

Start:100 km/h= Start
Factor 1:× (1000 m / 1 km)= km cancels
Factor 2:× (1 h / 3600 s)= h cancels
Result:100 × 1000 / 3600= 27.78 m/s

Tips & Best Practices

  • Always write out units to ensure they cancel correctly.
  • 1 km = 1000 m, 1 h = 3600 s.
